A New Baby

There's a new addition to our family. My sister in-law D gave birth to a healthy boy last July 27. Baby ZJM is super cute. They had to perform CS with my sissy as she was given a relaxant for her asthma so there was only minimal contraction yet her water bag already broke. We were thankful that both baby and mama were ok after. Baby and mama had gone home today and will be at grandma's house until he get's baptized. Wee! Can't wait for him to get bigger so we'll have someone to play around. :) Happy days are near!

A booze filled weekend!

Last Friday, my husband came home from another service travel from Taiwan. I've jokingly told him earlier that day that I was also in the same place as he was while we were chatting via Gmail chat. Ok, so I was using google map to see his hotel. A bit of a stalker I am... Haha!

Later on, at around lunch time P (hubby) arrived and hasn't slept yet except while he was on the plane. His boss flew out the night before and is planning to have dinner with my husband including me and my sister in-law. Pretty exciting as it is my first time to meet P's boss. I was also supposed to go to work but asked my boss that I won't be able to come to the office as I'm going to attend a dinner. My boss gave me the go signal so I was up to attending the dinner. Since P's boss is staying in Shangri-la EDSA, we we're eating there.

So I get to meet my husband's boss and had dinner at a posh Italian restaurant called, Paparazzi. First time to be eating something I couldn't properly pronounce except the word risotto. We also drank a whole bottle of merlot which made me feel hot all over (no pun intended). The dinner was good. My husband, his boss and sis in-law had pretty much conversed while eating dinner. As I was only able to speak some because I was shy and had really no idea what they we're talking about... well some. :)

After a good dinner, we went out for drinks at Billy's rock near the Shangri-la, actually just beside it. I had a lemon mojito which I enjoyed a lot. Had 2 or was it 3 glasses. Anyway, I didn't join them for the tequila shots since I was already sleepy. When the last call for orders was done, I was ready to go home but they still want to go somewhere else. Not wanting to miss the fun, I told them I was joining. So we initially went to Home Depot but seeing there are no bands playing we just went to buy coffee from Starbucks and then proceed to Metrowalk. The last set at Kudos was going to start, so we went there. I pretty much enjoyed the band, but I only drank iced tea. As with the others, a round of margarita again. After the last set, we went home but we first dropped P's boss at the hotel.

Didn't wake up at around 4 in the afternoon the next day... or should I say the same day. Yet another dinner was planned again. This time we went to Greenbelt. Seeing that Merks is not there anymore, we settled to eat at Bubba Gumps. We had fish as it was the main dish they have aside from shrimps. Had a very good heavy dinner, must say. Drinks, they have in mind so went next to Hard Rock Cafe. The second set of the band was on going. Nyoy V was singing ballads. Not much on the jumpy songs which was set for the next one. I had a bahama mama and they had their margaritas. We were seated first away from the main floor but the a/c was good but went to bothersome when it started getting cold. We were transferred to the main floor close to the bar afterwards when some people went home.

On the 3rd set, the songs were more to my liking except for the romantic songs they sang and which P and I danced since we were coaxed by his boss. After the romantic songs, the jumpy songs began, my sis in-law and danced to it. I had to go to the ladies room for a moment and when I came back, they have tequila shots on the table and I had to drink mine. So drink I did. Noted that the liquid smoothly slid in my throat. Wow! The boss just kept it coming as well as the dancing too plus the bahama mama. I'm pretty much dizzy and hot all over afterwards. I was speaking so boldly and pretty much telling them I was embarassed. Not good. The 3rd set came to an end, bills paid and shocked to hear how much it was. P took some time in the men's room had to ask a waiter to check on him. I am so dizzy and was talking pretty fast I think. Then we went home. I'm not sure if I was wasted as I didn't throw up except I was too dizzy to walk straight... It was already Sunday morning. ♣

DVD's, Books, Movies and Work

What's keeping me busy these days? Well, aside from work and reading books on weekdays... I also have been busy watching Criminal Minds and some of the latest movies on DVD. Suffice to say, I haven't been lazy.

I can tell you that I love watching Criminal Minds. I especially love it because of the character, Dr. Spencer Reid. He's simply adorable and a genius, to boot. I used to love Morgan but like any other time, I get full with gorgeous men. But with Dr. Reid, whoever made up his character was brilliant.

I've also recently watched Red Riding Hood which starred Amanda Seyfried. It was good. From a scale of 5, 5 being the highest --- I'd rate it as 3.5. Amanda was beautiful as always. It was an adult version of the story, probably how the Brothers Grimm had in mind before it became a child's story. Nice take on who played the wolf, too. And then I've also watched Kung Fu Panda 2 which was lots of laugh. I can't seem to make up my mind which was better, the predecessor or the successor.

I'm done listening to Water for Elephants. Sometimes I like to listen to someone read me a book. Well, the audio book was good. There were two voices reading it. One was an older Jacob, a gruff voice. And the other is the young Jacob. The book I believe is not for young people as the sexual content is very descriptive. I wonder if it's banned for its explicit nature. A good book nonetheless. I might even buy it next time. ♥

Little Sis is back... from Thailand!

Early yesterday morning, we (my brother, sis in-law and I) went to the Centennial Airport to fetch our little sister. She's back from Thailand for a four- week training at Maejo University in Chang Mai. We went to the wrong airport. She was actually at Terminal 3 since they had taken the Cebu Pacific airline. To my dismay, I had to pay 200php because we had to take the metered taxi from Centennial to Terminal 3 and because I didn't want my sister to wait long since her companions already left for CLSU.

So there at Bay 4 Terminal 3 airport my sister waited for us to get her. At first my brother didn't see her. Funny because he walked past her. Anyway, glad my sister is ok even after her bumpy trip. She told me there were plenty of turbulence and her flight was delayed for an hour because it was raining in Bangkok. I can see she was pretty tired because she slept the whole time we're on the bus going back home. And when we got home, she slept some more. I did, too. :)

I got the bag and the bookmarks I asked as pasalubong. Yay! Lots of food and knick knacks. She also received pretty gifts from her new friends in Thailand. Sweet! There were also nice clothes she got while she was there.

It's a few more days before she goes back to school again. It has been a pretty busy but interesting happy summer for her. As for me, I'm thankful to the Lord that my sister is home and is well.

A Hope For A Debt-Free Existence

I recently read a book about how I can manage my finances better. I believe that buying the book is one of my Eureka moments. It's a cheap book, actually a slim pocketbook that I read in just one sitting. It may be so but I learned plenty from it.

The author made it humurous and some of his examples were based in his own experiences. There were 7 strategies that he mentioned in his book and these are: 1) save, 2) give, 3) get out of debt and stop borrowing, 4) live simply, 5) magsipag, magnegosyo, 6)invest and 7) educate yourself. And also what I love about the book are the encouraging words from the Bible.

After reading the book, I made a decision that I'll be consitent on saving money to my bank account every pay day. I have to get out from all the debts I have. I must learn to live simply and continue my little sideline at Avon. In time, I can invest to have my own business -- God's will. I will educate myself more about how to successfully manage my finances. These are what I would like to achieve, not tomorrow but perhaps soon. But I really have to start NOW!

Btw, if you are interested about the book, it's entitled "Ang Pera na Hindi Bitin" and it was written by Eduardo O. Roberto, Jr. I got the book from an OMF bookstore.
I guess this is the one I'm not fond of listening to... I just don't know why.

Bon Voyage, little Sis!

A few hours ago, we dropped my little sister to the airport for her first ever out of the country experience. She'll be in Thailand for a whole month for her on-the-job training before her senior year in college starts. I'm so excited for her, I really hope she learns a lot in Maejo University. I've been googling about the school and it seems to look like my dear alma mater in college.

By now I guess, cutie heart (lil sis) is already in Thailand. I hope she had a good flight since she's going to have to endure another 10 hours of bus ride from Bangkok to Chang Mai province. Hmm... that's a pretty long travel. I hope the buses in Thailand have their own bathroom.

Well, I'm hopeful she'll send me a text message as soon as she's able since I got her a sim that can let her text for just 3 pesos. Or if not, I hope she'll send me a message in FB. :) God bless, cutie heart! I hope you'll always seize the day while you're in Thailand: The Land of Smiles.

Passing Time and Childhood Memories

I woke up at 6 in the morning. Said a little prayer and got out of bed. I gathered some calamansi leaves from the tree in the front yard to boil for Sweetheart's bath. This is to ease the itchiness that the rashes brought because of the unusual high fever he had for the past two days. Thank God, he's okay now except for the itchiness.

Since it's Good Friday, I was taught as a child to abstain from eating meat on a day like this. So for breakfast, we had tuna omelette and fried dried fish. Although still weak, SH's sense of taste has returned and is now able to appreciate the food.

I arrived in the office before 9:30 AM. Some people in the night shift are still around. Wanted to play praise and worship songs without using my earphones but had to refrain. Not because I'm embarassed of my playlist but because I'm only being considerate about people's music preference. Remembering my childhood, we weren't allowed to play songs from the radio. Instead, we we're told to be quiet and observe the holiness of this particular day. Televisions are limited to a few channels which do not broadcast anything on until around 6 in the evening. So what we do then to pass the time was to read and go to church. Nowadays, you could easily pass the time by watching cable televsion. Or like me, go to work... posing as being productive and taking advantage of the double pay.

There were also Good Fridays before when we go to my paternal grandmother's house to spend the whole day and watch the "Penitensya". These are men who wore black veils on their heads to prevent their identity being known. They do penance by striking themselves with a whip, and once in a while they soak the whip in a vinegar. There are stations in which they have to kneel and pray. Seeing them as a child was not a favorite past time and I believe it won't ever be.

Old women from my family used to say that when you extract coconut oil by cooking coconut shredded meat on a holy Friday, the oil will be a good cure for some body aches. For me, I just love the smell of a fresh extracted coconut oil. One thing I know, it's good for my hair... Yes, old school hot oil hair therapy.

Reminiscing old childhood memories makes me nostalgic. Oh, how I wanted to be in the province at this time... Perhaps next year?

First Post on a Maundy Thursday

I've been a member of Blogger since 2007 but I only read, comment and just visit other people's blog. Recently, I have made a discovery of being able to log-on into my account here in the office. What luck! So, I began reading again and this time I want to write, too.

Today is Maundy Thursday - most people are vacationing. But I'm not most people, I'm in the office now trying to be productive or that's how I'm trying to convince myself. Well, better here than outside with the extreme heat that comes with the holy week season. Tomorrow, I'll be here in the office again, taking advantage of the A/C and the double pay. Nyahaha! Hmmm, maybe I can tell you a story of my childhood during holy week. Yes, why not...tomorrow then! As Big Bird says, "Toodle-loo!"
